CHIROPTERA

Chiroptera is designed around the behaviour of bats. On the outer part there is a reclining chair in which you can enjoy the sun. This aspect refers to the way bats fly and the freedom of movement they experience while doing so. In the centre of the Chiroptera you can sit around a table.
Moving the umbrella downward creates a more enclosed environment. When the umbrella is completely closed most of all weather factors are repelled from the Chiroptera. This is why the seats are upholstered in a rather old fashioned way and are more comfortable than most garden furniture.
The movement of the umbrella itself is a reference to the motion of the bats’ wings, searching for protection and solitude when closing their wings or flying and freedom while spreading their wings.
